Our 5th New York Volunteer Infantry (Duryee Zouaves) Civil War living history
webpage has -- among other features -- a complete roster and search engine of
the names of men who served in the original regiment. The 5th NY was recruited
primarily in the greater NYC area, principally Manhattan. However some 50 men
enlisted from Poughkeepsie, some from Long Island, and some from Westchester
County. If you think you may be related to any of the men whose names appear,
we will send you the additional information we have on file. Due to the time
involved in this, please be reasonably certain that the soldier's name is of
interest to you. But we are glad to assist.
