I want to thank all of youfor your quick response to my question about my
grand-parents death. I need to add several facts.
1. Sad to say, I don't know the name of the nursing home, the town it was in
or the cemetery. My parents are long-gone so they are no help.
2. Albany wrote back "this is to certify that a diligent search of vital
records has been made, etc.etc. and the record has not been found . . ."
3. I did check with Nassau Co. but they referred me to the specific town
(which I did not know). I did check with the towns of Baldwin and Hempstead,
with no luck.
I know that we lived in Baldwin with my grandparents when they were put in the
nursing home, and I remember going to visit them. I 'm sure it was only a
short drive, which led me to believe that the home was in the same county.
Using some of your many suggestions, I will plod on. Several of you mentioned
names of nursing homes and I will call them. Several have suggested that
because of the financial situation at the time of their death, and the fact no
realative were notifies, they migh be in "paupers" graves, with no
accompanying records.
Thank again, and if more info, please write.
Rusty
