72 character line length is best. This allows fro several >'s that get
inserted at the beginning of lines when the original message is included
in a reply.

On a similar theme, messages should be sent to lists as plain text.
NOT as HTML, rich text, or attachments. There have gotten to be so many
of these lately, that my (and many others) mail reader will not easily
display, that I no longer even try to read most of them. Read your
manual and configure your mail software to be compatible with others on
the list, not the way the vendor thinks it should be.
