My opinion is that a longstanding organization like DAR does have a lot to
offer a genealogical researcher, although something new as First Families
might not have much to offer. If there's some sort of moral weight being
attributed here to whether or not one should join any of these organizations,
I say, why not? It's just another club and belonging to it doesn't stop
anybody from simultaneously participating in the wider genealogical world.
It's personal and nobody needs to give a reason for their choice in this
