While doing some research on my husband's family I found information
indicating that a g-g-g grandfather was born in Albany in 1857. This
person's father (my husband's g-g-g-g grandfather) wrote songs for
Charley Kane as well as was involved with the beginnings of the Gaiety
Theater around 1860. His name was Andrew Jackson Leavitt or A.J.
Leavitt. Any suggestions where I might find information about the
Theater or music written for Charley Kane would be greatly appreciated.
