Subject: Naturalization Question
Date: Thu, 5 Nov 1998 11:34:16 -0500
Does anyone know the exact sequence of naturalization in the 1850's. My
Terrence ORorke lived in Albany from about 1848 to 1853 and then moved to
Brooklyn. I found his naturlaization papers in the Kings County records and
I know its him because the man who is his sponsor/witness is my gr gr
grandmother's godfather and also moves into the same building in Brooklyn
in 1855. Now I have stumbled upon naturization papres in Albany for a
Terrence ORourke. My question is would Terrence have had to file and then
latter be sworn in? If this is so how long an interval is there between
declaring you want ot be a citzen and your actually getting papers?
I'm trying to decide whether to send away for these Albany papers or not.
thanks
michael
