Hi All;
In the conversation of different names on Birth or Death certificates,
here's another slant. In my family is the name Mongeon. Fine, the family
seemed to drop out of sight Not fine.
Then I was able to get three members of this families death certificates
where the maternal name was Mosher. Confused the dickens out of me until my
"smart" cousin said they must have changed their name. So she checked the
1850 census and Mongeon then the 1860 0r 55 there was the entire family as
Mosher! Families especially from French Canada did change their name to sound
more American. Hope this gives a different slant to you all. Deanna
