Not to take anything away from W David Samuelsen and his terrific
service, but there are already some naturalization indexes online for
NYS that you may not be aware of. Please check here:

There are also military naturalizations indexes online here:
http://www.italiangen.org/military_records_intro.stm

To quote from their web site:

The Italian Genealogical Group, along with members German Genealogy
Group, the Jewish Genealogical Society of Long Island and the Irish
History Forum, are involved in an ongoing project to computerize an
index to naturalization records processed in military camps. At this
time the project only encompasses the New York Tri-State Area, but
new records will be included as they become available.

This military database consists of over 36,000 individuals from all
over the country.

Among these records are names of military personnel who petitioned
the government for citizenship while at various military camps. They
were situated in the New York Tri-State Area. There were thousands of
men trained at these locations and while the majority of the men were
from the New York metropolitan area, there were also many from as far
away as the states of California and Washington.

Again, this is not to take anything away from Mr. Samuelsen. There
are many more indexes he could put on his web site which have never
been done. I would just like to recognize the dedication and hard
work of the volunteers of the various genealogical societies who have
already produced these wonderful indexes for us to use. As they say,
why reinvent the wheel?
