I can't answer your question about why NYG&B hold their events in NYC;
perhaps because that's where their offices are. I thought they were a
NYC organization, not a NYS one, but I don't know that much about them.

However, to clear up this misunderstanding. The organizer of this
program is the Archivists Round Table, not the The New York Genealogical
and Biographical Society. In other words, NYG&B kick in some $$ for
this fair, but do not run it. I believe the article I posted said that
at the end.

Now my disclaimer... I am not a member of either organization, and don't
know beans about them.
