Subject: SMOLINSKI - 1910 U.S. Federal Census
Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2005 11:24:06 -0500
Hello Listers:
I am researching the SMOLINSKI surname, and Ellis Island 1905 shows a Jan SMOLINSKI,
sailed from Bremen on the Kaiser Wilhelm II arriving NY 5 July
farmer, Ruthenian, from Nizankowice, destination Pittsburgh 2430 Forbes Street. There
are several other SMOLINSKI immigrants showing up on Ellis Island, all from the same
town in Eastern Europe.
The 1910 NY Federal Census has Jan SMOLINSKI, the location looks like Northfield
Township. I am wondering if this might be the same person, since Austrian Polish also
shows up on this record, but the details on the census record are difficult to read on
the copy that I have.
Are there any SMOLINSKI researchers out there, or perhaps someone might be able to
suggest another list that would include the Northfield area in New York. I haven't
been able to find any connections to this name in the U.S. and I believe there must be
descendants who are family connections.
Any comments or suggestions for further searching would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Helen Ginn
