Hello,

I am new to this list and would like to know if there was a passenger train from
New York City to northern New York State (US-Canada border) in c1849.

I have a ship's passenger list which has some relatives arriving in NYC in
January, 1849 and I wonder if it would have been possible for them to make
their way to the Ottawa Valley area of Ontario, Canada at that time.

Any help in this regard will be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.
