SORRY EVERYONE ABOUT THE ERROR IN THE TIGS LINK - HERE IS CORRECT LINK
www.rootsweb.com/~nytigs/

If you are researching relatives from TROY, WATERVLIET, GREEN ISLAND, COHOES, WATERFORD or RENSSELAER COUNTY, NEW YORK, you may want to take a look at the website for the Troy Irish Genealogy Society at www.rootsweb.com/~nytigs/

Click on PROJECTS to view the following name searchable data bases, of IRISH and NON-IRISH names:

Burden Iron Company Steam Mill Payroll Records. (8,236 names)
Troy Area Marriage Records. (1,448 names)
Troy Area Death Records. (6,031 names)
Index-History of the Troy Police Department. (668 names)
Bank Officers in Troy Banks From 1801-1891. (299 names)
Prominent Citizens of Troy, NY & Rensselaer County. (1,800 names)
Rensselaer County Marriage Index. (24,000 names)
Alderman/Assistants in Troy Wards During 1816-1891. (1,395 names)
Representative Young Irish-Americans of Troy, NY 1889. (400 names)
Deceased Troy, NY area individuals identified in 1902-1903 Troy City Directory (1,400 names)

These data bases of over 45,000 names are part of a continuing effort by the Troy Irish Genealogy Society to make available on line, Troy area records, that may be of interest to genealogy researchers, especially those outside the Troy area.

The TIGS website also has a number of interesting local history articles, some of which have photographs or illustrations, a great list of resources including a volunteer look-up service and a lengthy article on Genealogy Research Tips as well as descriptions of tours of the Gardner Earl Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery, the Burden Iron Works Museum and the Watervliet Arsenal along with numerous photographs.

NOTE 1. The Rensselaer County Marriage Index of 60,000 names is a continuing project. The 24,000 names now on-line are from the first 3 volumes of the 10 volume set of records. While these marriages took place in Rensselaer County, New York, many of the individuals were from other areas of New York State, other States and even other countries.

NOTE 2. The Representative Young Irish-Americans data base, which has nice line drawings of the subjects, is the only ALL Irish data base.

NOTE 3. The Deceased Individuals from the 1902-1903 Troy City Directories cover Green Island, Watervliet, Waterford and Cohoes as well as Troy deaths.
