Ted, is there a chance that the Horace in Rochester, NY in 1920 could be your guy? The age is right for his BD.
I did a general search for Horace H or Hiram Johnston and there was one 53
year old in the 1920 fed census who was boarding with a Merrill family in
Rochester, Ward 11 Monroe Co., NY.

Dear Ted,
This sure beats me! I have looked for all the NYS Horace Johnstons in the 1900
Fed census, in Ancestry.com and of almost 1000 Johnstons, Horaces, Hirams and
all given names, not one appears in Chemung Co. even when I gave the page and
ED! They were all spelled Johnston. Where did you get the page you have?
There simply isn't a Town in Chemung called Country! Maybe there was, but doubt
it. I did a general search for Horace H or Hiram Johnston and there was one 53
year old in the 1920 fed census who was boarding with a Merrill family in
Rochester, Ward 11 Monroe Co., NY.
I'll keep my eyes open for that name. I didn't search under Johnson and may try
that.

Thanks for the comeback.
The name I'm researching here is 'Horace Hiram Johnston.'
However, he is down there on property nr 97, under someone
whose family name is Holcomb. ( I can't read a lot of the writing.)
And, the census takers almost always spell Johnston - 'Johnson.'
Horace is listed as a grandson, born Feb 1866, 34 years old, single.
