I always wanted to be an Air hostess but having paid my visit to the School
Careers officer along with my Mum. They persuaded (told !!) me that I really
didnt want that and I would be better of going to college and taking an
office/typing course.

Well disheartened by all that I really didnt try at my exams, didnt take the
typing course and got lousy exam results. So much so that my mother informed
me she wasnt going to support me while I went to college wasting my time !!
(It was ok for my younger brother to go to college!)

Ended up getting my first office job and the only time I have really enjoyed
a job was in my early years at Debenhams that was when Stores still
believed in good service to customers and you built up relationships with
them. Had a couple of jobs since then but I do prefer the customer contact
type. As much as I enjoy my job now I miss the variety of people I used to
see.

I often wonder what or where I would be now if I had been able to stand up
to the adults around me and do what I wanted not what I was told.
