My Dear Ms. Bottom,
I cannot begin to thank you for your magnificent gift of Trade Samples from your 'Scuptured Candles' range. Allow me to congratulate 'Well Lit' on the attractive range of colours and the generous proportions of these works of art. I must confess however to a certain degree of, ahh, perplexity over your choice of characters and having tried as many combinations of words as I can think of, e.g. Down On Luck, One Damp Leg, Lots of Dough, Loss Of Dignity, Damned Old Lecher, Lively Old Duffer and many others I have now come to the conclusion that it was a purely random selection on your part. Nonetheless, I am truly appreciative of your kind gesture and would like you to know that they have been put to very good use - waxing the surfboard.
Yours Faithfully,
G. Spooner.
Dear Mr. George Spooner,
It has come to our attention that you are once again celebrating a birthday.
<snip>
And Mr. Spooner, because this would be your first time using our new Birthday Candle Sculptures, we would offer them to you free. No charge. No, sir don't thank us, it would be an honor to serve such a fine senior citizen as yourself. In fact we have taken the liberty of enclosing them with this letter. And since we weren't 100% sure of your age, and here lies the beauty of these Birthday Candle Sculptures, we have choosen letters to express our Birthday wishes. Enclosed you will find the letters..O...L...D.
In closing Mr. Spooner, I'd like to wish you a HAPPY DAY!!
Yours Truly,
Rebecca Bottom
