> Thought you might like an update on my phone call from the RBG!
> Louise called me and what was clear early on was that, if they do
decide to order directly the job created would only be a part time
one. This I sort of expected, so was ready to come back with the idea
of a short term contract to help them get things sorted out. Louise
was quite interested in that, and we talked further. When she heard I
have a history degree, she said, oh really - because it appears that
one of the areas the new CEO of the Gardens is keen to develop is the
botanical/gardening history of Canada as they do have some material
donated for this.... Then I mentioned that I had also done a bit of
freelance journalism over the years and that I was a keen
photographer, and had been for a number of years.... turns out the old
gent who used to look after their photograph stuff died last year.
He'd been more volunteer than paid staff, but they also have an
extensive slide collection all falling part as it needs cataloguing &
cleaning etc....

> Anyway, the upshot of all this was that Louise is going to make a
proposal for a new job - combining these areas, and I will be
submitting my resume, and cover letter, pointing out how perfect I am
for all these areas... The fact that the most pressing need is to
sort out their periodical orders, and that I am very qualified for
that and am available right away, gives me a strong boost.

> So Trivvies, I need you all to send out those positive vibes,
prayers, etc that the RBG can be persuaded that they need me, and
cannot do without me. (If anyone wanted to make a sizeable donation
to them, citing the need for any of these areas to be dealt with that
could help too.....lol lol lol) It won't be for huge monetary gain -
but the perks are great. Working in a building like that, surrounded
by those beautiful gardens - acres of them - would not be hard to take
at all! Have a look at www.rbg.ca and see what I mean. Its a lovely
place.
