Please ...........
Can someone please explain some facts to us about rechargeable batteries ..
? .......
We've bought a new camera that uses --- Size AA --- NiMH - 2100 mAh
batteries.........
It came with 4 such batteries - but they are "not" rechargeable ones .......
Andy says he'd like to use rechargeables - but we need to buy not only some
batteries, but also the charger as well ....
We surfed ----- blimey what a lot of different ones there are .... LOL .....
....
We know - from our other digital camera - that some rechargeable batteries
need to be fully discharged before charging --- but with others it doesn't
matter ......
Our old digital camera battery is a special shape & comes with a charger all
to itself .... The camera tells you when it's flat & you then just charge it
--- takes about 1-2 hours to charge .... Couldn't tell you which sort it is
--- we've not looked ... Shame on us ......
Anyway --- back to these AA sort ..........
1. Which sort are NiMH batteries ? - the sort you need to fully discharge,
or the other type .. ? ....
2. The manual says we need to buy 2100 mAh --- but does it matter if we buy
2300 mAh .. ? --- which we have seen when we've searched the net ...
Obviously, we'd not buy any less than 2100 - but what would happen if we did
have to at any time .. ? ... Would it just produce less power .. ? ...
3. Which charger would be best --- a rapid charger (15 minutes - to - 1
hour) .. ? .... Or one that chargers the batteries much slower - ie 4 - to -
8 hrs .. ? ...... What is the difference .. ? .........
We've noticed that some batteries aren't suitable for the overnight trickle
charge (presumably the 8 hr) chargers .... Why would this be ... ? .........
.
4. We wondered if the rapid chargers would wear the batteries out quicker -
ie give a lower number of chargers per battery ... ? .........
We think - for most times - a 4 hour turnaround would be sufficient ... What
do others think .. ? .....
5. Anything else you think we should know ... ? ..........
Many thanks ....
Sue
