Hello new friends,
It is only 5 p.m. here in Nevada, but I guess it is already 2005 in most everyone else's home. Today my husband (Tony) and grandson (Gabriel) and I spent a few hours out in the snow in our yard. Tony was mostly shoveling, and Gabriel and I were making a snowman and throwing snowballs and climbing the "mountain" of snow that had been shoveled from the driveway! Funny how being around children can bring out the child in us! Maybe that's one reason I teach elementary music - I can always act like a kid!!
We are having a very unusual amount of snow, with more on the way. Being raised in Pennsylvania, I love the snow, but the roads are treacherous. Nevadans aren't used to this much snow, and many don't know how to drive in it. The road departments don't really have enough equipment to handle it, either. I sent Tony to the grocery to pick up bread and milk - I didn't even want to drive the 1/2 mile to the store. We will stay in tonight, watching the "ball drop" in Times Square, New York City on the tv. There will be fireworks downtown, and we will hopefully be able to see some from our front porch. We'll have some crackers and cheese and other munchies and probably something to drink to bring in the New Year. Maybe I'll even open that bottle of champagne! Here's to a safe, happy and prosperous 2005 for all of us!
