Hang in there Pat. It's OK to be scared. Take time to get through the
shock. Cry as much as you need to. Then start the survival game. Don't
lose "yourself" in bitterness. You have to live with yourself - and his
actions shouldn't make you lower yourself to his level. But don't be a
martyr either. Don't hesitate to take what you need in the divorce
settlement.

If you're in the US talk to the people at whatever unemployment offices are
around. There are sometimes programs available for free training or even
college degrees. (If you need it - you could already be rocket scientist
for all I know.)

You WILL be okay - unless you decide you don't want to be.
