It is strange that he was 27 before he started using SS. Makes you wonder
what he did prior even more. Sounds like a change of name or that he was not
working or hiding something.
Did you look in the 1920 Census for anyone (in either location he claimed to
be born in ) with the surname he used to determine any possible parents or G
parents that he might have?? I realize he was not born until 1927 but he
would have had a father and grandfather listed or perhaps an uncle or someone
to whom you might find a family connection.
Trucking companies had Unions in 1957 (since my Family owned one Inter/Intra
State) and the Union collected work records for Union Pensions and they
should still should be available and they would have next of kin, dependents
and etc information listed. Those records were necessary on all employees. My
brother-in-law just told me that the Union has his records back to 1947 and
he drove for various companies.
I got to think about this one some more and see if we can find a route for
you on the Births.
