I also lost touch with my son`s father for about 16 years. So I wrote a
letter to the Social Security office with his name,mother`s name,
father`s name and date and place of birth. The only thing I did not have
was his SS number. I put in a written letter to him with the envelope
opened (so they could see what I had to say to him) and they forwarded
it to him. He had the option to answer or not. He did answer it.
