Needing info on my lost Scharf line. Grandfather George Albert Scharf b abt 1880 Oil City, Pa lived in Fresno, Ca abt 1910. Deserted wife Lucy Mae Gilstrap Scharf and children and last address was Marshall, Tx before coming here to Al where he remembered living as a child. He married my grandmother Eliza Jane Latham and they had 1 son who was 10mo old when Grandfather George Albert Scharf died at abt age 34. Grandmother didn't have addresses of kin to notify them of his death, so we never knew our Scharf line.
She didn't know of his other marriage and spoke well of him. I discovered the other marriage in my hunt for the elusive ancestors and lost cousins. I discovered Lucy Mae Gilstrap divorced him for sesertion in 1915 and married an Eleazer Hill in Ca. Greatgrandfather was Frederick Scharf b Germany, lived Ohio, Pa, Al, Ar, Ca. He operated the Union Stave Company, a lumber business that made and shipped barrells. His wife was Mary Stark? Children were Rose who later married a Coan and lived in Memphis, Tn around 1915. Anne who died in childbirth.Elizabeth, Ed, Fred, Harry and maybe others. Did the Scharf's leave Ca? Move up to Oregon or Washington or did they move back to Pa? or Ohio? Other names in that family were Poser, Ostland, Dunlap maybe relatives? Any help out there appreciated. Sincerely Rosalie Scharf E-mail
