Try Brothers Keeper for Dos, or windows..even as a "spare program" - it is
Shareware and fully operational. Will load pictures if you want. Easy to
load, and it has ability to load Gedcom files.. you need this I think.
People can send you their data in the *.ged format - or you can copy from a
CD Rom at Family Search - and these files can then be be loaded into *your*
prog! Other shareware programs will load *.ged files and put them in pretty
display charts, TreeDraw is one. Reunion for Windows cots a lot, but it is
very good for charts, where you can re-arrange the boxes on-screen.
I belong to a Victorian group called "Gum" Genealogists using
microcomputers, they compare notes on programs, do reviews, and sell some at
a discount. Check out their web site: There is apparently software on it for
