The false address could be completely false, it may not have originated at
ozsnail.net.au. Unless you can supply the *full* headers, it is difficult
to begin looking and it needs the cooperation of the real ISP. Mail
headers look slightly different to the one below.

For example, your news article's headers are:

Path: pumpkin.pangea.ca![longish path snipped but starts at voyager]

As an outsider, I can only say there is a strong possibility that the
message was sent from your ISP but only they can say for sure it was your
account, and only you can say it was you! When we get complaints about
alleged abuse by our users we have to check a few logs before we know it
was our user.
