Shirley asked about Arthur St., St. Leonards, Drs. CLARK & WARD, also
household tenant H. BUCKINGHAM in 1887.
Today you will find Arthur Street in North Sydney off Lavender Street.
St. Leonards was a very large area in those days.
I have lots of certificates with those doctor's names. Also the
BUCKINGHAM name is very familiar to me - my grandfather used to go
sailing on the Harbour with that family. My family came from 'Cliff
House', Milsons Point, St. Leonards. The house is no longer there, it
would have been immediately above the North Sydney Olympic pool.
Write to the Local History Librarian, Stanton Library, Miller Street,
North Sydney, and ask for information. You'll be surprised what records
they have.
Also look in the Sands Directories - you'll find out about next door
neighbours too.
