Can someone give me a contact for the Historical Society that looks after
the Botany Bay area? I have found someone in England who is definitely
related to Captain Cook's wife Elizabeth Batts and to her "cousin" Isaac
Smith (the first man on the Endeavour to step ashore). I thought the
society might be interested as none of James Cook's children had any
descendants. A lot of Cook's memorabilia was passed down through the Smith
side and is still in private hands. Wouldn't it be nice to invite these
"rellies" to one of our Australia Day celebrations!
