Hello Nigel.
As they were teachers, the New Zealand Department of Education (or whatever
politically-correct modern name it might use) would seem to be a good
starting-point.

Going by their ages, I expect that they might be retired by now, but they
might still maintain an archives or old-fashioned card index of former
teachers.

I expect that they would also be on a pension or superannuation from being
teachers. That might be another lead to follow.

However, hopefully this list will have someone from New Zealand with more
substantial info. for you.
