Dear Sylvia,
Not thinking, I accidentally spelt Sydney's name "Blythe" in http://www.google.com.au and came up with this page:
I think the probability of two people being called "Sydney Blyth" or Sydney Blythe" in the one town is insignificant.
Therefore ...........
http://www.walkabout.com.au/locations/NSWArmidale.shtml
It refers to a message left in a bottle which was only uncovered in 1971 apparently left in 1870 thus:
Sheriff's Cottage and Courthouse:
Walk down Moore St to Faulkner St. On that corner is the Sheriff's Cottage, a simple, vernacular single-storey brick
magistrate's residence with timber verandah. Built in 1870 it was originally the town lock-up.
The cottage lies behind the simple brick courthouse (1859-60) on the north-western corner of Beardy and Faulkner Sts. It
replaced an earlier building erected on a different site in 1844. Designed by Alexander Dawson, later alterations were made by
James Barnet in 1870 and W.L. Vernon in 1900. It features a grand portico with half-fluted entrance columns, a vented
pediment, cedar joinery and furniture and a squat clock tower, added in 1878. Other features include a cobbled vestibule and
fine wrought-iron gates.
In 1971 a message was found in a cognac bottle placed under the floorboards during the renovations which had occurred in
1870. Written by the Clerk of Petty Sessions it read, in part: 'My friends...rest assured that the world has wagged before your
time as it will after your time, and that nothing is certain but death. For and behalf of my numerous creditors. Sydney Blythe.'

Lieutenant Colonel (CO) George Frederick BRAUND (Volunteer's
Decoration. Mentioned in despatches), 2nd Battalion, AIF.
Born Bideford, Devon, England. Married; Member for Armidale in
the NSW Legislative Assembly / Storekeeper / General merchant,
of Wycombe Road, Neutral Bay, Sydney, NSW and Armidale, NSW.
Next of kin: Wife; Lalla Robina Braund (nee Blythe), of same address
and of 'Girrahween', Barney Street, Armidale, NSW. Killed in action
[mistakenly shot by sentry] at Braund's Hill, central Anzac,
on 4 May 1915, aged 48. Grave: Beach cemetery.
Here he is again it seems with another spelling:
Sidney Blythe is in the 1872 Greville's P.O. Directory:
http://www.family.joint.net.au/content.php?mid=1&cid=13
BLYTHESidneyCPS---Armidale
I have no idea what occupation "CPS" is an abbreviation for
Here is a reference to the CUTTRISS family:
http://www.richhistory.org.au/Australia's_Fighting_Sons_Index.doc
If Elizabeth died in Sydney, then she probably was living in
Wycombe St Neutral Bay 2089 ....... on the map:
http://tinyurl.com/8vdd and
http://tinyurl.com/5oj
Neutral Bay's social status would be very much in keeping with the credentials of this family.
There seems to be a long history of the CUTTRISS family associated with Inverloch, Victoria, too, judging by the pages from
google .
Cheers & happy hunting,
Tony Moore,
(Balgo, Western Australia)
