Bill,
Congratulations on getting the update finished so quickly. I like
being able to save my layout - thanks! And thank you for fixing the
minor bugs that we've found so far. I've tried an import from TMG (to
a new dataset, of course) and it worked better than the first version.
There'll still be clean up to do, but I think that will always be the
case using GEDCOM.
There are two annoying bugs (to me) that still exist. The first is
Unicode characters. I still cannot get them to stick in the name
field. They seem to work fine in the memos, but will not stick with
the names. I can paste in a name like ?rjnak as the surname, but when I exit the field, the diacritical mark disappears and does not return. I've just tried a few other fields (in sources, citations, etc.) and it seems to work OK there - just the names are a problem. This is important to me, as my grandfather came from Croatia - lots of consonants and not many vowels and diacriticals over everything in sight. (Hope the name comes through on email - it's showing on my screen, at least.)
The second occurs when adding a source to a witness. Clicking the Source box lets you select the source and then brings up the Citations window. When I click on the name tab, the first individual is the primary. The second individual is a random person from my database. This is important to me because this is one good way of tracking name variations on censuses. But right now it only works for the primary individual, not any of the witnesses.
Everything else seems to be running smoothly. Thanks for being so responsive to your users. We really appreciate it!
-Joe
