I have had problems with trying to backup from within GB; it generates a
Windows error message. I have just been going through WE, finding the
database, right clicking, and making a .zip file using WinZip. Does anyone
see any problem with that method? CheriC

While the database in question is open, I select File > Backup
It asks what file you want to backup. On next screen you select where you
want the backup to go, and what name you want. I backup to my hard drive
in a folder in My Documents\Genbox\Backups
The naming system I use is based on the date, with the year first, then
month, they day (ex. 20030302.zip)
So if I have more than one backup for a day, the next backup would be named:
20030302a
20030302b etc.
At the end of the day, I copy these backups to a zip disk. That is what I
use to transfer to my laptop.
On the laptop I close out any open database. Then I do a File > Restore
It asks what File do I want to restore. I select the latest zipped file on
my zip drive.
It then asks where do I want this file to go. I go to where my database is
located at. When you get to this screen, make sure to change the "Files of
Type:" drop down menu from "show folders only" to the Genbox database
selection, so you know you are getting the right location (I boo-boo'd once
and put my database in the wrong location). When you've pressed "Restore"
it will ask you if you want to overwrite the file. I select yes.
It's been very easy to keep my database and laptop in sync with each
other. When I can afford to get a new laptop, we are going network. <g>
