Which brings up a question I had before. I've imported my main
file which contains many double-bracketed items "[[
data ]]". GENBOX prints this information on reports. The
program from which it was imported considered information within
the double brackets private (or sensitive), and I've used it
extensively in all fields except dates. I can't find a way to
make this data sensitive/private in GENBOX. Anyone know?

Subject: [GENBOX] [BUG] Curly braces in GEDCOM import causes
Genbox to create invalid RTF
| Genbox was creating an RTF file that caused Microsoft Word to
go into an
| infinite loop (which it shouldn't do, but that's another
story) and it
| took me ages to figure out what was going on. Actually I gave
up at one
| point and just sent the files to Bill to let him figure it
out, but I
| *REALLY* wanted the report that I was trying to output, so I
gave it
| another go.
|
| To make a long story short, if you have the character '}' in
your GEDCOM
| file when you import it, Genbox will generate invalid RTF when
it goes
| create a report. This is probably true for '{' as well. I
had a note
| which contained "[H.} some more text" as the result of a typo
was only
| displaying "[H." on the screen, but was outputting the entire
string,
| including the curly bracket which messed up the RTF because it
has
| special significance there.
|
| You can find out whether you've got any of these characters in
your
| notes by searching for them using the Notes tab of the Search
dialog.
| Unfortunately, if there are any found you won't be able to see
where
| they are in the text. If you have the original text available
to you
| however, say in another genealogy program, and you delete the
characters
| in the right place in the Genbox display, the "invisible"
curly braces
| will magically get deleted.
|
| You don't need to worry if you typed these characters in by
hand,
| because it looks like Genbox takes care of properly quoting
them in that
| case.
