Raymond - When you close the database that you had opened so that you are at
a blank GenBox screen and then try to create a new database, do you still
get all of these cryptic messages? CheriC

Subject: [GENBOX] Creating a New Genbox Database Procedure?!

Hello Bill et al,

I am currently using Win 98SE (latest updates) and latest version of GB. I
am on a network with another computer...this computer being the 'main' one
(or I presume the 'administrators' one...I must be the 'administrator'), so
you are probably right Jim, as the options give me the extra choices (not
unlike that of an 'administrator').

Sally?! I get exactly the same result as you when I hit "Cancel".

Bill, do you think that 'user' rights or 'administrator' rights as Jim's
suggested could be what is happening in my case? I don't really mind
actually as it does give me a few 'extra' options....the only problem is
that I need to know what I am doing or know how to use it properly in order
to capitalize on this.

Regards

Raymond

Hi Raymond,
I get the same message that you do if I try to open a new database if I
already have one open.. If I then Cancel, I have the message 'user operation
cancelled'' or something like that ( I don't want to try it again as the
program obviosly doesn't like it and behaves oddly), the usual File/ New
then opens. If I close all databases before opening a new one, everything
works normally. I'm using Windows ME.

Morning Raymond,

You do have a strange one here. I did notice a "quirk" of GENBOX in that I
had to Close my open database before I could create a new one otherwise
GENBOX closed without any warning and I had to reload it.

However, when I did close all open databases I then chose FILE/NEW DATABASE
and GENBOX created a new database for me using the name I entered for the
new database. I didn't get any of the procedure that you have just
described.

Perhaps Bill can help you with this one.

Raymond,
What operating system are you using? If it is the NT-2000-XP Pro series,
you may be operating it as a system administrator and windows may be asking
for "permission" to set up something new.

Raymond - I am not getting all of the cryptic messages that you are getting,
either. Hopefully Bill or someone knowledgeable about the program and
Windows can help. I am inclined to accept Jim Winfrey's theory that it has
to do with administrator or user rights. CheriC
