Hi, Wim,
My screen layout is very simple: Individual View on left 2/3 of screen,
Lists View on right 1/3 of screen. With Lists View set to display
individuals, this allows me to work on a specific individual while having
access to an index of all the individuals in the database.
Your suggestions don't apply to my setup. That's why I'd like to see more
"remembering" on the part of the program.

This setting affects remembers which individual is the focus of the
Individual View and displays that individual at startup. It has no effect on
which individual is the focus of the Lists View of individuals. That focus
vanishes between sessions and is even reset after pefrforming maintenance
operations during a session.

These settings affect overall screen layout but do not apply to the data
panel (I don't know what else to call it) of the Lists View. The Lists View
is divided into two panels, a tree view of what kind of lists are available,
and a data panel showing the content of the selected list. Once Individuals
is selected in the tree view, the splitter bar needs to be pulled all the
way to the left so the names of individuals are displayed fully enough to be
useful. But this placement of the splitter bar will not stick. The division
of the Lists View falls to the default at startup and after maintenance.
Sine it's just a screen position (like the general layout of windows on the
screen), why can't it be saved?
If there's another way to achieve this very functional layout--access to an
individual's records AND easy access to a list of all individuals, I'd like
to hear about it. An icon bar with user-configurable icons is one way, I
suppose--click on an "Individuals List" icon and pop open a list of all
individuals--but we don't have that yet.
Thanks,
Don
