I have been a Genbox user for many years, originally using PAF for data
entry and the original (chart only) Genbox for output. When Genbox
supported data entry as well I upgraded and transferred from PAF. I have
used Genbox ever since. Tried Legacy and several other programs, but came
back to the devil I knew.
Although buggy, I have got used to most of the foibles, but keep copious
backups.
I used to recommend GB to friends and relatives, but the quirky nature and
lack of fixes stopped me.
If GB4 came out now with a hefty price tag I'd be reluctant to upgrade until
the level of support and fixes became clear.
I am also a registered user of VueScan scanner software from Hamrick
Software. The difference could not be more marked. Single person
developer, fixes/upgrades at least weekly, I had problems with a new
scanner, mailed details, personal fix sent for trial a couple of days later,
it worked, released as an upgrade the following day. I will support that
kind of quality service all the way.
