Dear Gens

Anyone expert on Militia Widows and under what surname they were paid a
pension? Suddenly after years of researching my widow O'BRIEN (Royal Meath
Militia)- name from Colonial Office minutes - suddenly I found Inward
Despatches of 1834, from Dublin Castle stating that the pension had been
paid since 1820 to Adelaide CONNOR now CAMPBELL (married James CAMPBELL
Circ 1820)! How could 'they' get the name so VERY wrong? Another name
attached to her, when her last child was born in Tasmania, was VANSEK! What
a mess - any suggestions would be gratefully received and promptly answered!

There is an archivist at Inveraray Castle which is the seat of the Dukes
of Argyle. There is also a book titled 'INVERARAY and the Dukes of
Argyle' by Ian G. Lindsay and Mary Cosh. In the rear of this book is the
full family tree of the present Duke. I do not have the full address of
the above archivist but the Castle is in Inveraray, Scotland.

I was a bit stunned to find this on this listserv. My comments 1) I have
the same identical recipe with a totally different story involving Mrs.

it.

I am working on the family of Francis COULTER (1771-1846) and Nancy
GLENDENNING (d 1873). His parents are believed to have been WALTER
COULTER (COLTHERD) and ELIZABETH RAY. Francis and Nancy are believed to
have come from Hawick, Scotland. They settled in the Town of Bovina in
the early 1800s. I am descended from their daughter Isabella COULTER
(1798-1879), who married John Armstrong. Their other children were
Elizabeth (b 1800), Agnes (b 1802), Walter (b 1804), Mary (b 1806), James
(b 1808), Ellen (b 1810), David (b 1813) and William (b 1817). The
Coulter name was once very common in Bovina. I have had no luck tracing
the family in Scotland (I visited Hawick last September) and wondered if
anyone had more definitive information about this couple.

Thanks for any suggestions, etc.

Hi,
I am hoping some one in the group will recognize these Evans lines.
A person with the last name Evans-Morse entered his family in the IGI
before 1936, However, there was no more information given, ie. where to
contact him, etc..
Any help or tips on how I can follow up on this would be greatly
appreciated.
Could you possibley send me an e:mail as I do not get into the group each
day.

Enough with the bellyaching!!! Getting one cookie recipe was not a
waste of my time. I like cookies. If you don't want the
recipe...DELETE IT!!!! What I find annoying is the other 50 e-mails
complaining about it.

Thanks, Brenda, for passing-on the expensive and exclusive N-M cookie
recipe and for
the funny, yet not-so funny story. Revenge, sometimes, can be "sweet!"
I'll try to help out and e-mail the recipe to one of my son's at college

In the Home Office (England) there are a series of records called '
Criminal Registers, Series I' [HO 26] and 'Series II', in which are
recorded names of all persons charged with indictable offences, sometimes
giving personal information about the prisoners. Unfortunately they
commence in 1791.
Can anyone please advise on how I can find out the crime of Daniel
