Although not familiar with the force you refer too, they are almost certainly
part of the establishment managed by the Hoinourable East India Company in
India. You should note that the period you refer to covers the Indian Mutiny
when European units and police officers were much in demand to maintain law
and
order and to restore the status quo.

The records of the officials employed by the HEIC, including presumably any
Europeans in the East Indies Police Brigade, are in the India Office
Collection, now in the British Library at St Pancras, London.

The British Library have published a very useful book "India Office Library
and
Records - A Brief Guide to Biographical Sources"' by Ian A Baxter, 2nd Edition
published 1990; ISBN 0 7123 0637 4.

There is also quite a good section of records relating to India, including the
HEIC, in the Society of Genealogists Library.
