Subject: Re: Ferdinando as a first or forename? Where From?

Dear All
Allegedly, my 12 times grandfather (16th century), was one Ferdinando
BABINGTON from Middlesex. His son was Cornelius, and moved here to
Lincolnshire. (This still needs firm confirmation.) Anyway, we cannot
work out why his name was Ferdinando either, no Spanish connection at
all. Though a few centuries back from this (14th century), there is a
slight connection to Portugal.
Kind regards
