Subject: A parable for genealogists ?

A deaf man sometimes failed to hear what is spouse said. So instead of
repeating what she had said she would give a long lecture on how he should
turn on his hearing aid or listen more carefully. In other words she wasted
mor breath doing this than repeting herself. He ended up uninformed and
angry and she did too.
There have been occassions on this group when people have wanted info and
got a lecture when an answer would have been quicker and less distressing.
What springs to mind are the request for location of places or the URL to
find them and the Executions info.
On the locations I'm in AUs and do have personal copies of road maps for Uk
and use them but they don't always have modern county let alone name of
county in 1830's and changes between now and then. And in fact with one
border location I've found it varies from record to record which county its
in. But I would not expect someone in Uk to know a location in Canada , N Z
or Australia. It would be quicker in fact it was only 7 words to answer the
enquirer's query and a little more to give the URL in answer than the half
page or more lecture and the ill feeling it stirred up.
Just my thought
Probably not worth much
