With all due respect to Rob Thompson, who is a good friend, I think this
idea is unworkable. FHSs in all parts of the country have already gone
out and transcribed MIs from some or all the churchyards and cemeteries
in their area. Visit the relevant county page at www.genuki.org.uk and
you will probably find details. Since these are usually Society-based
projects that involve costs for transport, postage, materials etc., it
is entirely reasonable that FHSs should make a small charge for access
to such indexes.
