I think that is the idea (though the ships are normal ships, and the
experiences of the crossings are fairly normal as well, I presume).

The front sheet in the jewel case says:

"This compact disc contains information about LDS immigration voyages
to the United States for the years 1840-1890. This information is
taken from personal voyage accounts, the European Emigration Card
Index, European mission registers, LDS publications, and customs
lists."

When I got it, the choice was Viewer 3, or the Mormon immigration
Index [MII] + Viewer 3, at the same price, and requiring the same
storage space. So there was no disadvantage in getting the MII.

What the situation is now Viewer 4 appears to be available, I don't
know.
