They had some representative of the diocese on the radio on Sunday
morning claiming that there were those in the local community that found
visual representations on headstones upsetting. As far as I can tell (it
was early - I wasn't fully awake) the objections were theoretical - the
guy couldn't actually say whether anyone had complained. Added to which
there are, I believe, several other headstones in that cemetery with
portraits on the headstones, but they aren't being threatened with
removal, just this one.
