Yes, I was wondering about that -- as I understand it,
anyone could have registered the death (Doctor, spouse,
parent, undertaker, the nosy neighbor), but from what I read
here last week, both parents have to register a birth. IF
that "both parents" bit was in effect at the time frame of
the original poster's ancestor, and SINCE one parent was
dead, the surviving parent may not have quite grasped that
exceptions were possible?
