Sorry, but that isn't correct in my experience.

I am subscribed to a couple of (non-county) RootsWeb lists, and I don't
receive a daily newsletter email from RootsWeb. I receive a weekly "RootsWeb
Review" email, but it comes with "unsubscribe" instructions at the bottom.
Such promotional materials as I can find in my mailboxes also have
"unsubscribe" instructions.

I'm sure it's appreciated that you're offering a free resource here, but I
don't see the point in being negative about others who also offer free
resources.
