Subject: OT children's programme/book

I hope everyone will excuse me for asking an off topic question here. I
am trying to remember the name of a children's book (series?). I
thought it was Captain Pugwash but having done a Google search I am not
sure that that is what I am after. The one I am specifically interested
in was made presented on TV many years ago. I remember it as an
excellent programme with a wonderful cast. I believe one of the leading
lights was Keith Michel (cf Henry VIII). Can anyone help my failing
memory?
