Or late 1879, if he was the father.
9m pregnancy +7m = 16m.
Only 3 full months in 1881 before the 1881 census was taken at the start of
April.
Also that youngest son could have been born late, and could be a couple of
weeks older than the 7m
given on the census.

May not have been living there, just visiting .

His marriage certificate should have his occupation. Though of course that
could have changed over the years.
