You might find the following sites useful when you are looking for
accommodation. The first two only have B&Bs or hotels which have been
independently inspected; the third is useful if you want to find
somewhere near a particular village.
If you want to visit London, you might be better off staying just
outside (but remember to allow for your travel costs), since it is
very expensive; I have stayed in a Uni Hall of Residence on a family
history trip, which is much cheaper but very basic.
