Ken,

If you are really keen (or a glutton for punishment) there are two
sites which might amuse.

At them, you can undertake online courses in early handwriting - with
tests! Both are useful for Scottish handwriting and words (I've been
battling away with some Scottish Wills from the 1600s).

I've been working my way through this one. Loved the "Mermelate of
Quinces".

This one also offers a weekly poser.
This week's one (from Argyll) isn't too bad One odd word was "Marty".
But had I gone to the online Scottish dictionary at
http://www.sldl.org.uk/
I would have found it (and that it was restricted to Argyll)!
