Fair enough- the MP Tam Dalyell (who seems to be posh too- just seen
he's a baronet, as I checked for his spelling!) has the same
pronunciation but the 'z' has been 'anglicised' to 'y' in the spelling.
Still has a silent 'L'. what would Arthur Daly make of it- Arthur Dee?
(Although Daly is an already-anglicised Irish name of course...)
