We are trying to gather as much information as possible on all descendants
of all Graves/Greaves/Grieve/etc. ancestors. Many genealogies have already
been compiled, and we believe that most of these are related. We would like
to do two things:
(1) Determine which of these families are probably descended from a common
male ancestor.
(2) Verify the probable connections between people within a particular
family. For example, we would like to know that 2 living people have a
common ancestor 3 generations back in this genealogy, other living
descendants have a common ancestor 8 generations back, etc.

From what I know and the discussions in this list, it appears that objective
#1 is not a major problem. But I'm not at all sure whether it would be
practical to try to accomplish objective #2 at this time. What do the
experts have to say about this? I would like to begin to ask descendants of
the various lines to participate in a study, but I don't want to do this
prematurely.
