Hi Alan,

The Duerinck DNA Project, after I vegetated all summer, is scheduled to
blast off on January 1, 2001. I need the extra time to woo some German
people into joining the project and therefore make the project that
more exciting--variant surnames such as Duering and Von Duering.

Regarding dna labs, I spent a lot of time early in 2000 searching the
web with many multi-search engines. While there are many out there that
might do paternity and also mtDNA, I was looking for ones that had some
relationship to family y-dna relationship testing. Again, they can be
found at http://www.duerinck.com/dnalabs.html . Leiden University is a
research center on y-dna testing, and have some outstanding research
papers out, mainly on increasing throughput. In other words, I believe
it means run more samples through in less time. If you think the cost
would then go down, think about if they tested for more markers. I
don't know if we will see costs go down, but rather, like gas prices
and tobacco, they may go up. Just my take on things.
